Max Slevogt 🎨🖌🖼

Born in Landshut on October 8, 1868, Max Slevogt was, alongside Max Liebermann and Lovis Corinth, one of the three towering figures of German Impressionism — yet he was the most “French” of the three in his love of vibrant light and the fleeting gesture. A gifted amateur pianist and singer, he found his defining subject on stage: his celebrated portraits of baritone Francisco d’Andrade as Don Giovanni made Slevogt a star of the Berlin Secession.
