Circles in a Circle (1923) stands as one of the pinnacle achievements of Wassily Kandinsky’s lyrical abstraction. Painted during his Bauhaus years, the work reveals a dialectical tension between containment and freedom: the large perimeter circle acts as a cosmic field within which chromatic spheres of varying size orbit, graze, and converse without ever dissolving into mere harmony.
