Marking the 171st anniversary of Paul Gauguin, born on 7th June 1848
🇬🇧 Still Life with Moss Roses in a Basket, oil painting by Paul Gauguin, 1884, exhibited temporarily at Palazzo Reale in Milan, normally exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art – This delicate floral composition is still influenced by impressionist paintings and was painted by Gauguin following a difficult visit to his wife’s family in Denmark and his decision to dedicate his life to painting. Later his art will be influenced by primitivistic and symbolist themes.
🇮🇹Natura morta con rose di muschio in un cestino, dipinto ad olio di Paul Gauguin, 1884, esposto temporaneamente al Palazzo Reale di Milano, normalmente esposto al Museo d’arte di Philadelphia – Questa delicata composizione floreale è ancora influenzata da dipinti impressionisti ed è stata dipinta da Gauguin in seguito una visita difficile alla famiglia di sua moglie in Danimarca e la sua decisione di dedicare la sua vita alla pittura. In seguito la sua arte sarà influenzata da temi primitivistici e simbolisti.
