Burrata with Pistachio Nuts and Nectarines

If you fancy a nice excursion in one of the greener corners of London and a little foodie treat, I would advice to venture in Richmond and visit this little gem. The area around the restaurant is disseminated with various greenhouses and open plant displays with a great variety of seedlings from the nurseries. The kitchen serves a cafe under a greenhouse and an open-air tea house. During the weekend it can get very busy, even these days of immediate post-lockdown. Hence booking a table well in advance is strongly recommended.

Rack of Lamb with Mini Potatoes and Mushrooms

I was there following a recommendation of a dearest friend of mine so we were expecting a nice treat, which we had. The ambience for a summer lunch is ideal, under a well decorated semi-open greenhouse, graciously scented by bougainvillea and jasmines shrubs. The food served is actually locally produced in kitchen gardens and is inspired by British and Italian cuisine.

We shared two starters with a speciality of the house Garden Fritti with Zucchini Flowers, Sage & Borage and a delicious Burrata with Pistachio Nuts and Nectarines. That really delighted our palates with contrasting food textures.

For the main course my friend went for a vegan option, Aubergine Risotto, while I was inspired by a very tender Rack of Lamb with Mini Potatoes. We could not resiste to the temptation of concluding lunch with a shared dessert sumptuously pairing chocolate, raspberries and vanilla ice cream. Service was attentive and quick. Overall a really lovely experience, although savoury food was a bit on the salty side and the bill a bit on the hefty side. We truly enjoyed the lunch, choosing a new addition to my succulent collection and the walk along the river in the afternoon.
