🇪🇸 Romance sonámbulo – de Federico García Lorca
A Gloria Giner y Fernando de los Ríos
Verde que te quiero verde.
Verde viento. Verdes ramas.
El barco sobre la mar
y el caballo en la montaña.
Con la sombra en la cintura
ella sueña en su baranda
verde carne, pelo verde,
con ojos de fría plata.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Bajo la luna gitana,
las cosas la están mirando
y ella no puede mirarlas.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Grandes estrellas de escarcha,
vienen con el pez de sombra
que abre el camino del alba.
La higuera frota su viento
con la lija de sus ramas,
y el monte, gato garduño,
eriza sus pitas agrias.
¿Pero quién vendrá? ¿Y por dónde...?
Ella sigue en su baranda,
verde carne, pelo verde,
soñando en la mar amarga.
- Compadre, quiero cambiar
mi caballo por su casa,
mi montura por su espejo,
mi cuchillo por su manta.
Compadre, vengo sangrando
desde los puertos de Cabra.
- Si yo pudiera, mocito,
este trato se cerraba.
Pero yo ya no soy yo,
ni mi casa es ya mi casa.
- Compadre, quiero morir
decentemente en mi cama.
De acero, si puede ser,
con las sábanas de holanda.
¿ No veis la herida que tengo
desde el pecho a la garganta?
- Trescientas rosas morenas
lleva tu pechera blanca.
Tu sangre rezuma y huele
alrededor de tu faja.
Pero yo ya no soy yo.
Ni mi casa es ya mi casa.
- Dejadme subir al menos
hasta las altas barandas,
- ¡Dejadme subir!, dejadme
hasta las altas barandas.
Barandales de la luna
por donde retumba el agua.
Ya suben los dos compadres
hacia las altas barandas.
Dejando un rastro de sangre.
Dejando un rastro de lágrimas.
Temblaban en los tejados
farolillos de hojalata.
Mil panderos de cristal,
herían la madrugada.
Verde que te quiero verde,
verde viento, verdes ramas.
Los dos compadres subieron.
El largo viento dejaba
en la boca un raro gusto
de hiel, de menta y de albahaca.
¡Compadre! ¿Dónde está, dime?
¿Dónde está tu niña amarga?
¡Cuántas veces te esperó!
¡Cuántas veces te esperara,
cara fresca, negro pelo,
en esta verde baranda!
Sobre el rostro del aljibe,
se mecía la gitana.
Verde carne, pelo verde,
con ojos de fría plata.
Un carámbano de luna
la sostiene sobre el agua.
La noche se puso íntima
como una pequeña plaza.
Guardias civiles borrachos
en la puerta golpeaban.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Verde viento. Verdes ramas.
El barco sobre la mar.
Y el caballo en la montaña.

🇬🇧 Sleepwalking Ballad – by Federico Garcia Lorca
To Gloria Giner and Fernando de los Ríos
Verde que te quiero verde.
Green wind. Green branches.
The boat on the sea
and the horse on the mountain.
With the shadow at her waist
she dreams of her on her railing
green flesh, green hair,
with cold silver eyes.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Under the gypsy moon
things are looking at her
and she can't look at them.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Great frost stars,
come with the shadow fish
that opens the way of dawn.
The fig rubs her wind
with the emery of her branches,
and the mountain, a sly cat,
curls its sour agaves.
But who will come? And where...?
She is still on her snarling
green flesh, green hair,
dreaming in the bitter sea.
Compadre, I want to change
my horse for his house,
my mount for your mirror,
my knife for your blanket.
Compadre, I come bloody
from the ports of Cabra.
If I could, brat,
I would have closed this deal by now.
But it's no longer me,
my home is no longer my home.
Comrade, I want to die
decently in my bed.
Of steel springs,
if I could, with Dutch sheets.
Can't you see the wound I have?
from chest to throat?
Three hundred brown roses
on your white bib.
Your blood oozes and smells
around your belt.
But it's not me anymore.
Not even my house is my house anymore.
At least let me go
up to the high railings,
Let me go up,
let me come to the high railings.
Railings of the moon
where the water rumbles.
The two buddies are already climbing
up the high railings.
Leaving a trail of blood.
Leaving a trail of tears.
They trembled on the tin roofs.
A thousand crystal tambourines,
they hurt at dawn.
Verde que te quiero verde,
green wind, green branches.
The two companions went up.
The long wind has gone
with a rare flavor in the mouth
of gall, mint and basil.
Company! Where is it, tell me?
Where is your bitter girl?
How many times has she waited for you!
How many times will I wait for you
fresh face, black hair,
on this green railing!
At the front of the cistern,
the gypsy swayed.
Green flesh, green hair,
with cold silver eyes.
A moon icicle
holds over the water.
The night became intimate
like a small square.
Drunk civil guards
knocked on the door.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Green wind. Green branches.
The boat on the sea.
And the horse on the mountain.
🇮🇹 Ballata sonnambula – di Federico García Lorca
A Gloria Giner e Fernando de los Ríos
Verde que te quiero verde.
Vento verde. Rami verdi.
La barca sul mare
E il cavallo sulla montagna.
Con l'ombra allá vita
lei sogna sulla sua ringhiera
carne verde, capelli verdi,
con occhi d'argento freddo.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Sotto la luna gitana
le cose la stanno guardando
e lei non può guardarle.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Grandi stelle di gelo,
vieni con il pesce ombra
che apre la via dell'alba.
Il fico strofina il suo vento
con lo smeriglio dei suoi rami,
e la montagna, gatto sornione,
arriccia le sue agavi agre.
Ma chi verrà? E dove...?
È ancora sulla sua ringhiera
carne verde, capelli verdi,
sognando nel mare amaro.
Compadre, voglio cambiare
il mio cavallo a casa sua,
la mia cavalcatura per il tuo specchio,
il mio coltello per la tua coperta.
Compadre, vengo sanguinante
dai porti di Cabra.
Se potessi, moccioso,
questo affare lo avrei già chiuso.
Ma non sono più io
Nemmeno casa mia è più casa mia.
Compagno, voglio morire
decentemente nel mio letto.
Di molle d’acciaio, se potessi,
con le lenzuola olandesi.
Non vedi la ferita che ho?
dal petto alla gola?
Trecento rose brune
Addosso alla tua pettorina bianca.
Il tuo sangue trasuda e odora
intorno alla tua cintura.
Ma non sono più io.
Nemmeno casa mia è più casa mia.
Fammi almeno salire
fino alle alte ringhiere,
Lasciami salire, lascia che venga
fino alle alte ringhiere.
Ringhiere della luna
dove l'acqua rimbomba.
I due compari sono già in ascesa
verso le alte ringhiere.
Lasciando una scia di sangue.
Lasciando una scia di lacrime.
Tremavano sui tetti
lanterne di latta.
Mille tamburelli di cristallo,
fanno male all'alba.
Verde que te quiero verde,
vento verde, rami verdi.
I due compari salirono.
Il lungo vento se n'è andato
con un sapore raro in bocca
di fiele, menta e basilico.
Compagno! Dov'è, dimmi?
Dov'è la tua ragazza amara?
Quante volte ti ha aspettato!
Quante volte ti aspetterò
viso fresco, capelli neri,
su questa ringhiera verde!
Sul davanti della cisterna,
la zingara dondolava.
Carne verde, capelli verdi,
con occhi d'argento freddo.
Un ghiacciolo di luna
lo tiene sopra l'acqua.
La notte è diventata intima
come una piccola piazza.
Guardie civili ubriache
bussarono alla porta.
Verde que te quiero verde.
Vento verde. Rami verdi.
La barca sul mare.
E il cavallo sulla montagna.
